One clear advantage this system has over most other proofing systems is its ability to proof spot colors. Most people know that only limited numbers of spot color emulsions are available for color key overlay and single sheet laminate proofs. The only real choice designers had in the past to proof spot color jobs was to make a very expensive press proof. This proofing system allows us to proof multiple spot color jobs, even with CMYK added.
The printer uses seven-ink technology for color and grayscale printing (CMYK, with the addition of a light black, light cyan, and light magenta) for an extremely wide color gamut, and has a maximum print resolution of 2,880 by 1440 dpi for the smoothest blends and sharp text and line art. The 9600 uses pigment-based archival inks that will last up to 82 years.
