Aqueous coating is a fast-drying, water-based, protective coating which is applied while the paper stock is on press to achieve a finish that exceeds the quality of a varnish. This water-based finish dries quickly and is resistant to smudges and fingerprints. In addition, aqueous coated materials work well with ink-jet printing for direct mailers. As with varnishes, aqueous coating is available in high gloss, satin or matte finishes. Unlike varnishes though, aqueous coating typically covers the entire sheet, whereas varnish plates can be created to apply on certain parts of the sheet (spot varnish).
When adding coating to a project, always consult with us to help you choose the coating option most appropriate for your project.
